More Twilight fanart! This one was a project. I think the concept is pretty self-explanatory... I wanted to draw all of the Cullen family in the clothes they would have worn while they were still human, or early in their vampire years. I was actually a little surprised at how well all these outfits seemed to suit them. I have to say, I find all of their stories fascinating...

Anyway, as far as this image goes, when I first started working on it, I wanted them all to look a little intimidating, a little more like vampires than I would normally draw them. I kept working and it seemed like it was getting farther and farther from that, but after I worked on some of the shading and did the background it ended up more like I was picturing it. (The background is crap, I know; it took me two seconds... And geez, what is it with me and dark backgrounds? XD) Following the movie, I put them all in various shades of blue (and some purple 'cuz I can't help myself XD) with gold and silver accents-- the boys have gold, the girls have silver. And I used patterns prevalently for the first time... It was fun and I like how they came out. ^^

Heights are completely accurate, btw, according to the books (and interviews and such). So yes, Alice is that short. XD (so cuuute )

Some notes for each of them (left to right):

-I meant to dress up Rosalie in something very 1930's; the dress and hair ended up being more late 30's early 40's. Basically I wanted her to look like a movie star. I tried to give her hair the sort of 40's rolled-back look, but it wasn't looking right and I just made it kind of fluffy. She ended up looking a lot like a picture I found of Rita Hayworth.

-I apologize for putting poor Emmett in purple. XD I would have done navy, but the iconic suits of the 1940's tended to be a little more garish than that. I'm sorry if he looks like a mobster... >.> I think he looks hot like that. I've always been fond of the big band era, complete with fedoras and swing dancing, lol. I find it amusing that he and Rosalie are the only couple who even vaguely match...

-Esme's outfit is technically too old-fashioned for when she was changed, but since she is older than Edward, I wanted her in something a little more Victorian. In the end I took most of my cues from around 1910-1912.

-Carlisle's outfit, on the other hand, is obviously quite a bit after his time, since he was changed in 1663. But since he spent such a long time avoiding civilization, I decided to model his outfit after fashions from the mid-1700's, when he was with the Volturi in Italy. I was worried he'd look a little girly since he's wearing breeches (I tend to make guys look like girls... >.> I thought that might be highlighted by the fact that he's not wearing pants XD), but I was pleasantly surprised to find he looks rather authoritative in that outfit (at least in my opinion). And I'm sorry, that's one of my all-time favorite styles of clothing (guys in stockings plz yes thank u). I would have given him a wig, but then you wouldn't be able to tell it was him, lol. XD

-I took Edward's suit from a fashion illustration from 1919, adding the cape. I find it kind of funny that he ended up looking the most like a stereotypical vampire... I wanted to put him in an outfit that I could see him wearing to the opera. Because you know that Carlisle so would have taken him. ^^ (Side note: I would kill to go to an opera with Edward or Carlisle-- or both. XD I'm a total opera dork. I'm going this weekend.)

-Alice is my favorite, in terms of how they each came out. I know, a flapper is a little cliche, but she was changed in the 1920's and she's very fashion-conscious. I figure if anyone would have been part of that trend, Alice would have. And plus it just looks freakin' adorable on her.

-Jasper's uniform was stolen from a photograph I found of a major in Richmond, VA. Confederate uniforms are a complicated study. -_- Most of them were just makeshift garments sewn at home-- especially, I imagine, in Texas. All the pictures of Texan civil war soldiers I found were basically just guys in shirts, pants, and wide-brimmed hats with guns. Granted, though, I wasn't able to find pictures of Texan officers. I took the colors from an illustration I found of the Confederate generals (also where I got the sword); the only difference between this uniform and theirs is that they all wore knee-high boots. I liked seeing the pants better, like in the photograph I originally based it on. Jasper ended up looking a little gloomy... I kind of like him like that.

Oh, and sorry for the large size. I wanted you to be able to see each of them clearly.
